Abstract: A Lower Carboniferous representative of the Ammonoidea (Cephalopoda)
has been found in the Central-Iberian Zone of  South Spain for the first time.  Lime-
stone layers of the Casa de la Vega Formation (Upper Devonian-Lower Carboni-
ferous) have yielded a specimen of Ammonellipsites kochi (Goniatitida, Pericy-
cloidea) of late Tournaisian age (Tn3).  The locality is close to Guadalmez (Sierra
Morena, South Spain); the level of the goniatite belongs to the conodont zone of
Scaliognathus anchoralis and corresponds to the upper Tournaisian stage.
