This note presents some of resuIts of the paleontological and biostratigraphical research
carried out in tlie area of Abadeh, Central Iran, since 1972.  Concerning the Permian and
Triassic geology of the Abadeh region,  TARAZ (1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974) has reported
his pioneer works on the basis of his precise field observation at some complete sections
of the Permian and Triassic boundary.  TARAZ also proposed the Abadehian stage between
the age of Guadalupian and Dzhulfian of the Upper Permian.
The geologic researches in the Abadeh region were carried out in 1972 and 1975 as the
joint study on the Permian and Triassic boundary by the Iranian-Japanese Cooperation
Research Group and the present writer took a part of work on the Permian and Triassic
cephalopod fossils.  In the collection from the Abadeh region, there are many interesting
ammonoid specimens as described in this paper.  The writer also intended to consider
about the evolution and migration of the Araxoceratidae and Otoceratidae at the age of
Permian and Triassic boundary (BANDO, I979, in press).
