The lithological profile of  Dainrode in the Kellerwald, north-western Hessen (mapsheet 4919 Frankenau), is described
concerning its sedimentology, flora and fauna.  The sedimentary environment belongs to a siliciclastic-turbidite system
with a full sequence of siliciclastic sediments.  The discovered goniatites indicate that the siliciclastic turbidite-system
was deposited between the Goniatites crenistria-Zone and the Goniatites spirifer-Zone (Late Visean).  Calcareous
microbiota from two adjacent calciturbidite beds in the basal part of the profile independently indicate an Asbian age.
In the upper part of the profile an ashtuff that can be correlated with the Beddelhäuser Tuff is intercalated.  According
to the petrography and geochemical analyses this ashtuff is a product of dacitic to rhyodacitic volcanism with an
eruption center located outside of the Rhenohercynian basin.
