Type species: Talenticeras talenti Erben,1965,p.307 [OD].

Klug, 2001, p.493: Moderately to moderately large sized advolute conch, in the adult growth stage loosely coiled (at dm > 32 mm); without imprint zone. Whorl cross section subtrapezoidal with slightly flattened venter around wh = 10 mm, oval in later growth stages. Moderately wide umbilicus. Moderately high whorl expansion rate (2.2 to 2.3). Sculpture with about 50 coarse convex ribs with rursiradiate direction, coarse ribs on the venter with a moderately deep sinus. Suture line with a small external lobe, a broad lateral lobe, and with a broad, flattened internal lobe.

Comparisons (Klug, 2001, p.493): Among the Mimosphinctinae ERBEN 1953, Talenticeras is the only genus which has an adult gyroconical whorl. The other two genera of this family differ from Talenticeras in their ornamentation. Mimosphinctes EICHENBERG 1931 has ventrally bi- or trifurcating ribs and Chebbites n. gen. displays kidney-shaped impressions on the venter.

A:   Conch advolute, adult whorl gyrocone.
C:   Ribs simple, rursiradiate.
