Type species: Teicherticeras (Convoluticeras) lardeuxi Erben, 1960, p.68 [OD].

Klug, 2001, p.505: Conch of small to moderately large size, advolute or evolute; with a small imprint zone. Whorl cross section subcircular in the first whorl, later subtrapezoidal, laterally flattened, venter initially rounded, tabular after the third whorl; in later whorls sometimes with ventrolateral furrows. Wide umbilicus. Protoconch slightly bent. High to very high whorl expansion rate (2.8 to 3.5). Sculpture with coarse ribs with gently rursiradiate or rectiradiate direction, with a shallow lateral sinus. Growth lines with a shallow lateral sinus and a moderately deep external sinus. Suture line with a small external lobe, a broad lateral lobe, and sometimes with a small internal lobe.

Comparisons (Klug, 2001, p.505): The conchs of Fasciculoceras BOGOSLOVSKY 1969, Palaeogoniatites HYATT 1900, Talenticeras ERBEN 1965, and Teicherticeras ERBEN 1960 all have lower whorl expansion rates (mostly below 2.8). Only Gracilites BOGOSLOVSKY 1972 and Teicherticeras ERBEN 1960 lack the lateral sinus in the ornament which is present in Convoluticeras and the other genera of the Teicherticeratidae. Irdanites KLUG 2001 has significantly broader whorls and a subcircular whorl cross section. Fasciculoceras and Palaeogoniatites have rounded venters in contrast to Convoluticeras.

A:   Conch advolute or evolute, Ww/D = 0.2.
B:   Ventral sinus moderately deep.
C:   Ribs simple.
G:   EL or ELI.
