Balvia:
A    Conch form: small, lenticular to subglobose, completely involute, with punctiforme umbilicus.
B    Growth lines fine, prorsiradiate, concave-convex, with well developed ventrolateral salient and hyponomic sinus.
D    Flanks with several weak constrictions, which usually swing forward at venter to form grooves bounding a median keel.
Apertural modifications may be present.

Balvia (Mayneoceras): Regularly spaced constrictions pass into sulci bordering median keel; episodically developed parabolic
ears throughout ontogeny. Umbilicus punctiform throughout
ontogeny.
