1971 Kardailites Ruzhencev & Bogoslovskaya: 271.

Type species: Kardailites primus Ruzhencev & Bogoslovskaya, 1971, p.272 [OD]. Originally established within the family Cravenoceratidae, subfamily Cravenoceratinae.

A: Conch relatively small, thick-discoidal, rather involute, with moderately narrow umbilicus.
D: Two strong constrictions exhibit slight ventral salient.
G: Ventral lobe wide, with pouched prongs; median saddle higher than half the height of entire ventral lobe.

[Holotype of type species (only known specimen of genus) may be immature. Deep constrictions suggest relationship to Cravenoceratidae, suture is of "gastrioceran" type].

[Ruzhencev & Bogoslovskaya, 1971, p.271: Conch is not large, pachycone. Whorls moderately involute. Umbilicus
of medium size. Two sharp grooves per whorl are present. They originate at the umbilical rim, are somewhat displaced
backwards, and form a light lateral sinus and an insignificant ventral salient. Ventral lobe is very wide (lobe
width/height approx. 1) and strongly tightened at the top. Height of the medial saddle is half of the whole lobe.]
