Type species: Platyclymenia crassa Schindewolf 1923, p.458, OD [non Platyclymenia quenstedti crassa Schindewolf
1923, p.458 (obj. homonym)], = ?Cycloclymenia costata Lange, 1929, p.63 (subj.). [nom.van.: Platyclymenia
(Pleuroclymenia) crassissima Schindewolf, 1955, p.419].

A:  Conch form usually lenticular, sometimes pachycone; venter broadly rounded; flanks convex; umbilicus
      moderately wide to wide.
B:  Fine growth lines with rectiradiate or rursiradiate direction, course convex or slightly biconvex, moderately
      deep to deep ventral sinus.
C   10 to 50 simple fine or coarse ribs on flanks, following the course of growth lines.
D   No constrictions or internal shell thickenings.
G   In general no ventral lobe; symmetric and shallowly rounded lateral lobe. Species with wide whorl cross-section
show a broad, shallowly rounded ventral lobe (herein listed as "type B") [regarded as a secondary feature of a
      later ontogenetic stage].
