Type species: Clymenia acuticostata Braun in Münster, 1842, p.126 [OD Schindewolf, 1937, p. 56].

A:  Conch form discoidal; venter usually concave, sometimes flattened; flanks flattened; umbilicus wide to extremely wide.
B:  Fine to coarse growth lines with rectiradiate direction and concave-convex course; weak ventrolateral salient and
     moderately deep external sinus.
C:  About 50 simple, coarse ribs on flanks; some forms possess a few irregularly distributed ventrolateral spines.
D:  No constrictions.
G:  Shallow and rounded ventral lobe,  shallowly rounded symmetrical lateral lobe and rounded dorsal lobe.

[BOGOSLOVSKIY 1981, p.40: Conch thinly discoidal, snake-like, completely evolute, with almost rectangular cross
section of the slowly taller becoming whorls.  Sides slightly convex, venter flattened in youth, concave in adult whorls.
A groove along the venter contains distinct, but not sharp, keels.  Shell surface covered by frequent, sharp, radial
ribs, developed only on the sides.  Suture line forms an umbilical and a dorsal lobe, both wide, moderately deep,
ventrally rounded.]
