Type species: Clymenia binodosa Münster, 1843, p. 24, 37 [OD].

A:  Conch form discoidal; venter broadly rounded or flattened; flanks flattened; umbilicus moderately wide or wide.
B:  Fine growth lines with concave-convex course; weakventrolateral salient; moderately deep external sinus.
C:  Usualy 20 to 50 simple ribs on flanks; sometimes without ribs.
G:  Suture with shallow, rounded ventral lobe, rounded and asymmetric lateral lobe, umbilical lobe outside the umbilical
seam. Dorsal lobe deep and pointed.

[BOGOSLOVSKIY 1981, p.44: Conch thinly discoidal, evolute; umbilicus wide.  Whorls weakly embracing,  with almost rectangular cross-section, flattened laterally.  Sculpture:  radial, almost rectilinear, more or less well developed ribs and sometimes nodules or spines on the ventral and umbilical rims.  Suture line forms a ventral, an umbilical, an inner lateral and a dorsal lobe.  Ventral lobe not large and rounded; umbilical lobe wide, deep and rounded; inner lateral lobe extremely flat, rounded and located outside of the umbilical rim;  dorsal lobe deep, thin, wedge-shaped and sharpened at the end.]
