Type species: Promarathonites madayi Popov, 1992, p.59 [OD].

Conch small, subsphaeroconic. Very involute, with low, crescentic
whorls and narrow umbilicus.
Shell surface with lamellae and constrictions.
Ventral lobe bifid, with bifid prongs. First lateral lobe bifid,
second and thrid trifid, fourth lateral and five umbilical lobes
are small and not denticulate. The dorsal lobe is deeply trifid.
Four internal lateral lobes present.

Closely related to Marathonites, differing in the bifid first
lateral lobe. It differs from Subkargalites in trifid character
of the third external lateral lobe. (Popov 1992).
