Type species: Marathonites juresanensis Maximova,1935, p. 283.OD

[Leonova, 1989, p. 169]: Conch subdiscoidal to subsphaericone, involute, umbilicus tight. Lamellae thin and frequent,
forming a slight salient on the venter. Suture line consists of 22 main lobes. Ventral lobe subdivided by a median
saddle into two tight, bifid parts. First external lateral lobe in general  bifid, the second normally threefid, the third
external lateral lobe is wide and consists of two almost completely separate lobes. Fourth lateral lobe not deep,
whole, bifid or threefid at the base. Two umbilical lobes, in general whole and small. Dorsal lobe threefid. Four inner
lateral lobes.
