Type species: Ammonites hildrethi Morton,1836, p.149 [OD].

A:   Conch form evolute, with wide umbilicus on young stages, but moderately wide at maturity; no triangular coiling of
       inner whorls.
B:   Growth striae biconvex; longitudinal lirae present, but reticulate ornamentation inconspicuous.
C:   Umbilical shoulder nodose during early growth stages, shell surface smooth at maturity.
G:   Median saddle almost as high as first lateral saddle; second umbilical lobe trifurcate, its portions being separate.
Sutural formula [Germ.] E1EmE1ALU2vU2m:U2dU1I,  [Russ.] (V1V1)LU1U2.2U2.1:U2.2ID.

[Mapes et al., 1997, p.215: Characterized by lack of triangular coiling in earlier whorls; some conchs moderately evolute and retain umbilical nodes up to diameters of 30.0 mm. More mature conchs moderately involute and lacking umbilical nodes. Migration of U2.2 elements takes place at diameters of 25 to 30 mm].
