[Ruzhentsev, 1959, p.65]: The shell is thickly lens shaped, with high whorls, with a keeled ventral side;
on the side of the principal keel there begin to show a poorly expressed bend of the ventro-lateral edge.
The umbo is not broad, deep, with drawn off margin. The ventral lobe is with wedge shaped branches.
There are 5- 6 external umbilical lobes. The inner segment of the suture line consists of the dorsal, inner
lateral and umbilical lobe. L. Triassic; Himalayas, NE Asia, Alaska and Greenland.

The genus Otoceras survived into Triassic for a relatively short period of time and gave rise to no other
forms.
